Talk: From dusk till dawn: night-life politics, perspectives and regulations from Europe to Italy

A city’s nightlife concerns everyone—not just those who experience it firsthand. The night-time economy generates value for a wide range of workers and professionals, provides safe spaces for social interaction, and often fosters cultural and artistic development within urban communities by attracting artists and audiences from diverse geographical and social backgrounds. At the same time, this vibrant ecosystem intersects with several aspects of urban governance, from public transport and noise management to public safety.
An increasing number of cities are introducing the role of the Night Mayor (or Night-Time Mayor), a public official responsible for coordinating night-time policies and acting as a bridge between the many stakeholders involved.
This panel will explore international best practices, the needs and expectations of live performance professionals, and the initiatives currently being developed by Italian local authorities.
